These colourful stools designed by Frederic Alcantara are manufactured by expert Moroccan artisans. Due to their size, they are perfect for children… but they can also be used as original decorative elements. Lex Mini Stools have been designed by Frederic Alcantara for DIGS, a New York company dedicated to the fusion of modern design with the principles of sustainability and fair trade. As a member of the Fair Trade Federation, DIGS has made a series of commitments regarding its work and its relationships with suppliers and customers, i.e. paying fair wages, respecting the environment, promoting cooperative work, providing funding and technical support to artisans, respecting the cultural identity of the producers, and ensuring transparency in accounting. DIGS has a large number of environmental certifications in the U.S. context (Green America, Sustainable Furnishings Council, Forestry Stewardship Council, etc.). DIGS has collaborated actively for ten years with the organization Aid to Artisans, dedicated to improving the labor conditions and economic development of artisans around the world.

About the designer: Frederic Alcantara

Born in France, Frederic Alcantara is a veteran freelance designer with extensive experience in working with international companies and as a consultant for organizations such as Aid to Artisans. After a lifetime dedicated to collaborating with artisans around the world, now he lives in Marrakech (Morocco) surrounded by an inexhaustible wealth of traditions associated with manual labor. His projects for DIGS reflect his expertise and experience, and combine it with a very contemporary feel. His environmental awareness is reflected in the preference for recycled materials.
